Subjects Taught
First Grade

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

After graduating from college, I was blessed to be hired at Hopewell Elementary! I am in my eighteenth year of teaching, and I have taught first grade for all but one of those years. I'm so proud to be a part of such a wonderful school!

I love teaching first grade!  It is so fulfilling to see how much the students learn at this age.  It is a very exciting time for children and parents!  As a teacher, I believe my classroom should be structured, inviting, challenging, and fun.  I use different learning methods to meet the individual needs of my students.  Communication and parental involvement are the keys to a child's success in school, so I strongly encourage both in my classroom.  I tell my students that they have two jobs to do listen and to do their best.  I want them to believe in themselves and DREAM BIG!
